Hard Gel Nails Explained

Hard gel or bio gel is a type of builder gel. Correctly done, hard gel is durable, sticks well on even weaker nail beds, covers uneven nail surface and creates beautiful dimensional structures. It is slightly flexible, which may feel less rigid or more comfortable.

A new set of hard gel nails starts with preparing your cuticles and the nail beds using an e-file nail drill. Plastic nail tips are glued onto the nail beds for extra length as desired.

Hard gel is applied on nails and cured under a UV lamp. Nails are filed into desired shapes. Hard gel comes in limited colour collections. You may opt for natural hard gel colours or apply shellac gel and designs on top of the newly created nails.

When it’s time for the next nail appointment, we can apply hard gel to the regrowth. Minimum work is required on the initial hard gel sections. Alternatively, you may choose to file off the set and start a new one.

Hard gel does not soak off in acetone or nail removal solutions and need to be filed away. It is best done professionally to avoid damage.
